So my dad's getting married to his fiancee in Vegas on the 17 of this month. I will have seen both my parents get (re)married before I even think of having my own wedding. Strange.
That is, if everything goes right. I half expect both of them to sneak off to LAX and flee to opposite sides of the country before midnight. At least I can drive now.

Speaking Sillies
So, yesterday at work. I guess I must have been kind of tired because I asked a whole line of customers if anyone could translate for someone who only spoke "Sandwich".

Change this to K-mart...
more music charts
...and you have a place that we all know and love. Why yes, this is aimed at the person who had to work at said K-mart over the holidays, why do you ask?
edit: Hmm, can't seem to get it to show up fully. The picture should be a link though.

Reading Dilemma
I'm having a bit of a problem with some of my books. Well, besides that fact that Naomi Novik's Victory of Eagles doesn't come out in small-version paperback until May. May. C'mon people, you're killing me here!
I remember talking with one of my gulide members a few years ago. The only series we'd read in common was by author Robert Jordan, his Wheel of Time books. I'd enjoyed the first few but had had trouble getting my hands on the next ones. He said he'd read until book number eight, but stopped. When I asked why he told me it was because he'd gone straight from book six tho the one he'd just finished and never noticed that he skipped number seven in the process. We both agreed that it was probably time to stop reading the series you completely miss a book and don't notice or miss not having read it.
Well, I've been reading a recent series by Mercedes Lackey and Roberta Gellis and I've done just that. I was waiting for so long for book number three to come out that when I saw another book in the series I went so far as to buy it in hardback. Apparently I fell victim to the missing volume plague (Ever gone into every bookstore in your area looking for a middle volume in a series and none fo them have it?).
The first few chapters of what I now know is the fourth book in the series were a bit conusing, but Lackey at least is prone to that. It's a technique a lot of fantasy authors (or perhaps authors in general) use: jump ahead a few years from the last book and treat one or two major events that occurred in between like some great secret for the reader to figure out. Now it would be very silly to expect every book to start up where the last one left off, but most are able to find a good segway to catch the reader up without leaving us deliberately confused for half the book.
The point is I never realized things were terribly off until I saw the third book on the shelf of a Barnes&Noble half a year later. Thus my dilemma. I'll certainly read the two books that I already have, but if there are any more do I keep reading them? The answer depends on how these twp redeem themselves, and how on earth they managed to deal with that problem in Alhambra.

Important Life Lessons #1
New popcorn=fluffy goodness
Old popcorn=a charcoly mess
Also, microwaving butter? Not as good an idea as one might think. Use oven mitts on the bowl when you take it out.
Buttery popcorn=delicious slippery mess

I Just Want to Settle Down
Over the past seven years I've moved five times. When my parents divorced we moved from the Air Force Base to a small-ish house for four years. Then mom remarried and we moved into my step-dad's more spacious house. After almost a year there I moved into the dorms at school for almost a year. Then I rented a room in someone's house for a year. Finally, I moved into my own apartment just days before registering here. Every year I've been out of my parents' house I've made a minor change in location. Even when I go back to visit my family that house doesn't feel much like home since I spent a good quarter of that year (over various weekends and chunks of the summer) at my boyfriend's house and most of the rest of the time at school or a friend's house. The closest place I have to a "home" seems to be split to the area around my computer desk and my boyfriend's room at his current place. The place I pay rent for is just the place I come back to and store my stuff.
I'm getting sick and tired of this. I've finally got a place that is just mine, no roommates and it doesn't seem like I can make it comfortable. I seem to have developed something like a wanderlust and I don't like it. It can work for now because I'm still young and all that jazz but eventually I want to settle down with the boy and maybe even have a family or long-term pets and not worry about constantly relocating. I find myself getting lonely, not because of a lack of roommates because I actually enjoy being alone in that sense, but because I don't feel right in my own skin in the place that I live. It just kind of nags at inopportune moments.

Moving Again
Long time, no posts. Yeah, without the forced waiting periods between classes that school provides I haven't taken any time out to blog recently.
I haven't posted and AX report yet for two reasons:
1) Shortly before the con, we found out that my digital camera was having issues. It appears to be something with the software, not physical damage. Unfortunately, since I have absolutely no text-messaging capabilities and therefore all pictures takes on my cell phone are permanently stuck there, this seriously hampered my ability to procure the requested pics.
2) About two days after I got home my current roommate finally decided that she wants her boyfriend to move in with her. While I don't mind her boyfriend in the least, he has a lot of furniture and they're going to need the room I'm staying in for storage. Therefore, I got to go house hunting! Rather, apartment hunting, but that doesn't sound nearly as cool.
After a few weeks of research and touring I've decided on this place in one of their studios. Originally I was hoping to get a second story, but there was a ground-level unit that I could move into on the first of August so there'd be no strange prorating with the rent. The grounds are beautiful (the pictures on the website don't really do them justice), it's in a safe area, it's quiet, and I get an patio with a garden and a garage with a bit of extra storage space.
And the best part? No more crazy roommates.
